Model-Aware® Glossary

Definitions for Model-Aware® code generation and its MTConnect® applications.

Key terms

Model-Aware® automation
A process for deserializing a machine-readable information model and applying templates or equivalent generation rules to produce buildable, reusable code structures or SDKs.Explore Model-Aware technology.
Information-model source
A versioned, machine-readable representation used as the authoritative input for code generation.
Model deserialization
Loading types, relationships, metadata, and constraints from a serialized information model into a representation the generator can use.
Code-generation template
Target-specific rules and file layouts that turn deserialized model definitions into source code.
Model-derived SDK
A buildable software library whose types, relationships, and constraints are generated from a defined information-model version.
Translation layer
A separately maintained mapping or reinterpretation between source semantics and target software structures.
Model-Aware® machine adapter
A TAMS adapter generated or configured from an MTConnect information model for a scoped equipment integration.Explore machine adapters.
Static Information Modeling Strategy
A Static Information Modeling Strategy uses a predefined MTConnect Device model for a known equipment or source configuration. The model is generally the same across qualified implementations unless TAMS updates the adapter or project configuration.Review MTConnect Device Model.
Dynamic Information Modeling Strategy
A Dynamic Information Modeling Strategy generates the MTConnect Device model by interrogating the equipment, controller, or source interface at adapter startup or runtime, then publishing the resulting model through the MTConnect Agent.Review MTConnect Agent.
Configured Information Modeling Strategy
A Configured Information Modeling Strategy builds the MTConnect Device model from reviewed project configuration, such as PLC tags, signal mappings, thresholds, source documentation, or customer-specific machine semantics.Review MTConnect Device Model.
Custom Information Modeling Strategy
A Custom Information Modeling Strategy uses engineering review and custom semantic mapping to design an MTConnect Device model for a source that does not fit an existing repeatable adapter pattern.Review MTConnect integration services.
Model-Aware® Auditor
TAMS software that checks MTConnect streams for conformance and data-quality findings over time.Explore Auditor.
Model-Aware® Certification
A TAMS assessment service for reviewing an MTConnect implementation and documenting findings against the agreed scope.Explore certification services.
